Retro HSV shirts: from Athens 1983 to the Volksparkstadion

Until 2018, Hamburger SV was the only club to have played every season in the top flight since the Bundesliga was founded in 1963. That run only ended in 2017/18, when they finished seventeenth. In this collection you'll find original retro HSV shirts and vintage HSV shirts, from Uhlsport with Hyundai to adidas with Emirates.

The golden years: the 1983 European Cup

HSV were German champions in 1979, 1982 and 1983, won the DFB-Pokal in 1963, 1976 and 1987 and the Cup Winners' Cup in 1977. The high point came in Athens in 1983, where Juventus were beaten 1-0 in the European Cup final.

The 1990s: Uhlsport, Fila and Hyundai

From 1994 to 1999 Hyundai was on the chest. Uhlsport made the shirts from 1995 to 1998, after which Fila took over until 2001. Felix Magath was coach from 1995 to 1997, Frank Pagelsdorf from 1997 to 2001. The HSV 1997/98 away shirt by Uhlsport and the 1999/2000 Fila away shirt come from these years. In 1999 TV Spielfilm became the new shirt sponsor, until 2003.

The new Volksparkstadion and the Champions League

In 2000 the new Volksparkstadion opened on the site of the old 1953 stadium. In the 2000/01 season HSV played in the Champions League, where Tony Yeboah scored the club's first Champions League goal. Sergej Barbarez was top scorer that season with 22 goals. Nike (2001 to 2005) and Puma (2005 to 2007) followed as kit suppliers.

Adidas and Emirates: 2007 to 2015

From 2006 Emirates was on the chest, and from 2007 adidas made the shirts again. From 2010 to 2015 the stadium was called the Imtech Arena, and in 2010 it hosted the Europa League final. After Thorsten Fink (2011 to 2013), Bert van Marwijk, Mirko Slomka and Josef Zinnbauer took charge. The adidas away shirt of 2013/14 with Emirates on the chest is from the season of Van Marwijk and Slomka.
